The American College of Radiology's (ACR) longtime executive vice president of government relations, economics, and health policy, Cynthia Moran, will retire on January 2.

Moran has led ACR government relations and economic health policy initiatives for more than 20 years, spearheading the college’s advocacy efforts and shaping policies that affect patients and their access to quality healthcare, radiologist physicians, and radiology practices, according to the ACR.

“Cindy’s leadership was instrumental in establishing ACR’s economics, advocacy, and health policy efforts. During her tenure, the ACR has developed one the most highly regarded government relations programs and across the entire medical community,” said Dana H. Smetherman, MD, ACR’s chief executive officer, in a news release.

In May, Moran received the ACR’s 2025 William T. Thorwarth Jr., MD, Award, which recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the field of radiologic health policy and economics.

Current ACR vice president of government relations Joshua Cooper will succeed Moran in the role. Cooper has served in the ACR government relations department for nearly 30 years, the college said.
