The ASRT Foundation has awarded $25,000 for a two-year grant to support a study that aims to identify factors involved in interruptions to interfraction treatment.
The research, being led by a team from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, will also determine the extent to which treatment timing, nursing consults, dietitian consults, and patient age independently and interactively influence the consistency of adequate bladder filling. The study is titled "Evaluating Variables of Inter-Fraction Interruptions Due to Bladder-Filling for Prostate Cancer Patients Receiving External Beam Radiation Therapy."
The investigation team includes the following:
- Maria Dimopoulos, PhD, principal investigator
- Patrycia Sek, principal investigator
- Alex Ashley, co-investigator
- Samantha Skubish, co-investigator
- Cynthia Vavasis, co-investigator
