Approximately one-third of all forensic radiography exams are performed by registered radiographers, and approximately 90% of those surveyed rated the images produced at their facilities as good or excellent.
The numbers come from a survey conducted by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) of Albuquerque, NM.
The survey also found that approximately 90% of those forensic radiographers have access to radiography equipment at their facilities. Forty-four percent of respondents said the exams were performed by a forensic assistant and 13% were performed by a forensic professional, such as a medical examiner or coroner.
The goal of the ASRT survey was to gather information about the state of forensic radiography in the U.S.
