Elucid launches CT-based plaque analysis software

Cardiovascular imaging AI firm Elucid has launched its PlaqueIQ CT-based image analysis software for the quantification and classification of plaque morphology in the carotid arteries.

The software is capable of identifying and quantifying lipid-rich necrotic core, a component of noncalcified plaque, and is designed to help physicians diagnose carotid plaques at risk for rupture, according to the firm.

When used for both the coronary and carotid arteries, the software noninvasively delivers a quantitative and qualitative assessment of systemic atherosclerotic risk and creates the potential to perform both coronary and carotid plaque analysis in a single scan, the firm said.

PlaqueIQ was cleared in October 2024 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
