Week in Review: BI-RADS v2025 | Long COVID’s neurological effects | Autonomous AI for chest x-rays

Erik Ridley Headshot

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

The American College of Radiology (ACR) recently released the latest version of its Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS), which includes updates across five sections of breast imaging, as well as other revisions.

In a video interview at RSNA 2025 that was our most highly viewed article last week, ACR Committee on BI-RADS Chair Mary Newell, MD, shared all of the details on BI-RADS v2025.

Research presented at RSNA 2025 on the neurological effects of long COVID took second place in our top stories list. A team found evidence on MRI of persistent neurodegeneration in a subset of nonhospitalized individuals following mild COVID-19.

AuntMinnie members were also drawn to our reporting on an RSNA 2025 debate on the use of AI for autonomous interpretations of chest x-rays.

Other popular articles included one regarding the amount of CT and MRI contrast media administered to Medicare beneficiaries, another on the performance of an ultrasound AI tool, and a third about a phase I trial for a new PSMA-PET tracer
