Philips leads disaster preparedness initiative

Philips, Philips Foundation, and nonprofit organization Medshare have launched an initiative to supply critical medical equipment in strategic U.S. locations ahead of storms.

As part of the partnership, Philips North America will provide ultrasound systems capable of cardiac, vascular, obstetric, and gynecological imaging. These systems will be staged and deployed by MedShare in key locations to support emergency medical care.

Philips Foundation will provide financial aid and strategic guidance. In 2024, the foundation helped respond to major crises across the world, including the Noto Peninsula Earthquake in Japan and devastating floods in Brazil, Poland, and Spain, Philips noted.

The initiative was prompted by the critical need highlighted during Hurricane Helene in 2024, the company said.
