SpectronRx raises $85M to expand radiopharmaceutical production

SpectronRx has secured $85 million from investment firm OrbiMed to expand its medical isotope production and manufacturing capacity.

The funding will support infrastructure investment at the company's Grissom Aeroplex campus in Indiana, which spans 34 acres and approximately 200,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The campus currently supports more than 300,000 patient doses annually, and SpectronRx said its long-term expansion plan provides capacity for more than one million square feet of production space.

SpectronRx's isotope portfolio includes actinium-225, copper-64, lutetium-177, gallium-68, technetium-99, and a range of other isotopes used in diagnostic imaging and radioligand therapies. Company-wide, the firm operates more than 400,000 square feet of radiopharmaceutical production space across facilities in Indiana, Connecticut, and Belgium, SpectronRx noted.
